A very busy week!

I would like to start by thanking staff and parents for responding so quickly to the positive cases of Covid-19 we have had in school recenty. We were able to identify close contacts very quickly and parents responded so supportively in collecting students or giving permission for them to walk home. Thank you!

It has been fantastic to walk around school and see so many of those students joining in lessons from home. I hope that if your child has had the offer of joining in lessons online they have found it useful and enjoyable. If online lessons are not available, and this does depend mainly on the number of students that are with the teacher in school, that your child can access the work on google classroom. Thank you again to those parents that have got in touch to let us know of any problems so we could help to get those sorted for you quickly.

Also this week we had our first online parents evening for students in years 7, 11 and 13. This was a new experience for all of us but proved to be extremely successful. We did have a few teething problems but we were able to resolve most of these and I would like to thank you for your patience as we tried to do so last Tuesday evening. I hope you found it a useful experience in a time where we cannot invite you into the Academy in person for a traditional parents’ evening. Parents gave some really positive feedback - thank you for giving the staff your appreciation in a time that is very challenging for us all.

I hope that the weeks to come are a little quieter in terms of Covid-19 cases. Please be really vigilant in looking for symptoms in your children. Any new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of taste or smell please keep them and their siblings at home until they have been tested. If they receive a positive test result please email enquiries@easingwold.outwood.com any time of day or night, even at weekends.

Thank you once again for all of your support.

Next week the blog will be from Mrs Taylor - Vice Principal.

Stay safe and take care.

Miss Eddery
