Sports Hall Consultation

Foreword

Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) is a multi-academy trust sponsor. The OGAT Family of Schools currently comprises of thirty academies who work together to ensure that all children, irrespective of their starting point, receive an excellent education. We relish the opportunity to be part of the much needed regeneration of the academy site and wish to play a full role in the wider community. We believe that schools should be beacons in their communities.

Background Information

The current gyms at Outwood Academy Easingwold are past their designed life expectancy and are not conducive to implementing a modern learning environment. The gyms are outdated and the changing facilities are woefully inadequate. It was looked at in detail and the repairs and refurbishment would cost as much as a new build, and for the students and community of Easingwold, with a strong sporting history, the new build would be of much more benefit.

The Proposal

The proposal is to rebuild the sports hall on the location of the current hard standing tennis courts with minimal disruption to the current school. The plan below shows the proposed design of the finished build, compromising of a four court facility with separate male and female changing areas, each side provided with showers and dedicated external and internal entrances for wet/dry changing. Individual shower cubicles will be available in each changing area, as well as accessible changing facilities. The main entrance to the new building will have a reception area that can be used to supervise out of hours community use and the positioning of the new build also provides ease of access for this purpose. To continue the community use we are working with Hambleton Town Council, Easingwold FC and the FA to seek to provide an 11-a-side 3g pitch alongside the sports hall. This would be flood lit and provide an all-weather surface.
