History at Post 16

A Level History is designed to help students understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives. History is taught by three specialist teachers.

AQA History A Level (70401/2)

We teach the AQA specification which is made up of three areas of History.

Paper 1 – HIS1C – The Tudors 1485-1603 40%
Paper 2 – HIS2Q – The American Dream, Reality and Illusion 1945-1980 40%
Historical Investigation – Russia 1855-1955 (3000-3500 words) 20%

AQA History A Level is assessed in the following way:
Controlled Assessment (20%) Examination (80%)
