Outwood Academy Easingwold became a fully-fledged Outwood Academy on 1 April 2018 under the sponsorship of Outwood Grange Academies Trust. The Academy offers a high quality of education for students and is already Outwood Grange Academy Trust’s high performing 11-18 academy in North Yorkshire, having had excellent examination results in 2018 and 2019.
The Academy is currently undergoing a period of rapid transformation, both in educational terms and from an infrastructure perspective, enabling it to offer outstanding provision and to be the school of choice in the local community.
The Academy site is comprised of the Main Academy Building and the Post 16 Centre, along with grass sports fields and hard standing tennis courts. The Academy has recently undergone a major refurbishment project providing an upgraded heating system, rewired electrics and new water pipes, hand in hand with a phased redecoration programme thus enhancing the learning environment. There are two exciting new sports projects in the pipe line which will see the development of a new full-size 3G astro-turf pitch and a new sports hall, both of which will dramatically benefit the physical education curriculum and sporting provision at the Academy, as well as providing facilities for use by the local community after school hours.
Funds have been made available to replace furniture and carpets under a phased replacement programme, and several rooms have been kitted out with interactive whiteboards as part of the drive to improve facilities. New modern student WCs are also being installed.
The catering is of top quality providing school meals that are a source of envy for other academies. This is reflected in the dedicated catering team being awarded the Soil Association’s Food for Life Catering Mark – Silver Award. The majority of food is locally sourced from Yorkshire – all meat and eggs come directly from North Yorkshire farmers, with the eggs being free range and some of the meat coming from organically farmed stock. Breakfast, mid-morning snacks and lunches are served with hot plated meals, salads and sandwiches from the deli counter. Meals are also served in the Post 16 Centre Common Room, where there is a bespoke catering facility to serve Year 12 and 13 students.
There are specialist facilities for all subjects including four recently refurbished science laboratories, a Design and Technology wing, art, music and drama facilities, including the ability to put on productions and concerts in the Main Hall, and a Computer Science and Business Studies department with 3 dedicated IT rooms available. A well-stocked library supports the curriculum offer.
Outwood Academy Easingwold aims to provide the best experience for all of its students and staff and it is continuing its programme of continual improvement to meet its objectives of putting Students First, Raising Standards and Transforming Lives.
