GCSE Results

Outwood Academy Easingwold celebrate continued success

Students and staff at Outwood Academy Easingwold are once again celebrating superb GCSE results with students achieving 68% Grade 5 or higher in English and Maths and 86% Grade 4 or higher. In English 76% of students gained Grade 5+ and 86% Grade 4+ whilst in maths 73% of students achieved Grade 5+ and 89% Grade 4+. Early indications suggest strong progress across subjects most notably in French, Spanish, Music and Performing Arts where students have achieved more than a grade higher than expected.

An impressive percentage of students achieved top grades with a quarter of all entries achieving Grade 9, 8, A* or A. Students achieved a fantastic haul of 116 Grade 9s of which 24 (17%) were in English and 16 (11%) in Maths. This follows super A Level results which saw 27% of entries being A* or A grades.

“These are fantastic results well in excess of national averages and demonstrating strong student progress. I pay tribute to our students, the Principal and interim Principal our talented team of staff and the invaluable support of parents and governors – a fantastic team effort!” Lynn James Executive Principal

Impressive individual performances included Pheonix Woolnough 10 9’s; Jake Hewison 8 9’s, 2 8’s and an A* Distinction in Further Mathematics; Naomi Richardson 8 9’s, 2 8’s and a Distinction; Megan Shepherd 7 9’s, 2 8’s and an A*; James Forsdyke 4 9’s, 5 8’s and an A and Bella Hollinrake 2 9’s, 7 8’s and an A.

“I feel very proud of our students and staff and praise their hard work and dedication that have resulted in these excellent results. Well done to you all!” Will Pratt, Interim Principal.

This year sees another brilliant set of GCSE and A level results for Outwood Academy Easingwold to make our community proud and secure our students next steps in education and work.

A – Level Results

Students at Outwood Academy Easingwold are again celebrating a fantastic set of results with a quarter of entries gaining an A*/A at A Level, 60% A*-B, 80% A*-C and a 100% pass rate. The A Level average point score per entry is 36.9 with an average grade of B. These results are once again significantly above last year’s averages in both York (34.91) and North Yorkshire (33.02). The whole community can be very proud of the continued high performance of our Sixth Form.

Executive Principal Lynn James said, “Outwood Academy Easingwold is an excellent choice for post 16 study. Praise goes to our wonderful students for their effort and endeavour. Our students have been well supported in achieving these life changing results by our expert, dedicated teaching staff and high quality sixth form leadership who have worked tirelessly under the leadership of our Principal Laura Eddery and during her maternity our Interim Principal Will Pratt.”

Chair of Governors Jon Wright praised the school, “We are delighted with our continued success making Easingwold a sixth form of choice for its community. Our students’ results are testament to their hard work and the dedication of the school staff, governors and parental support.”

Mr Will Pratt, Interim Principal enthused, “We are thrilled with our students’ achievements. Their hard work has facilitated amazing grades resulting in the vast majority of students gaining acceptance to their first-choice university many of which are highly prestigious Russell group universities. We are extremely proud of all our students’ achievements. Well done!”
