Letter: Year 11 Leavers' Event

Fri 14 May 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,

Firstly we would like to thank you for your support over the last 5 years, it is always a pleasure to see the students grow, mature and achieve during their time with us. And we wish all those moving on in September all the very best in their future endeavours, and of course, look forward with anticipation to working with those who have chosen to continue their studies with us at Outwood Academy Easingwold.

The last 14 months have been particularly difficult at times, but as always the young people have adapted and moved forward successfully, meeting the challenges of lockdown, home schooling, centre assessed grades and assessments and periods of isolation.  Whilst we recognise this has been more difficult for some than for others we are proud of everyone's efforts throughout their GCSE studies.

You will be aware that the usual Prom had to be cancelled due to the uncertainty of of the 'road map' out of lockdown and we felt that this was the right move to ensure all students and staff remain safe. We do however want to send students off for the Summer with a positive celebration and have therefore put the following plans in place:

·         Friday 28th May will be the students last official day in school. This day will be a normal day with students attending in full uniform and lessons running as they have always done.
However during Period 5, we will take students to the school field and they will have some free time and an opportunity to sign each others shirts, which has always been a tradition for the Y11 students.

·         On Friday the 11th of June we are planning a leavers event for all Year 11 students. This will take place in the afternoon, with arrival at the academy between 1.30 and 2.00, and finishing at 5.00. The event will include the following elements:

o   A BBQ to be served at 2.30
o   Music running throughout the afternoon
o   A professional photographer (students will be able to access the photos later)
o   An icecream free to students (1 per student)
o   A presentation with prizes
o   Staff and student rounder matches
o   Lots of time to socialise and catch up
o   Fingers crossed for the weather as contingency plans are limited!

The cost for this event is £10 and this amount has been added to your iPay account.  We kindly request that you make payment by Thursday 27th May, so that we are able to make the necessary arrangements.

By attending the event you give your permission for the photos taken by the photographer to be shared via a google drive with the students in Y11, and for the Academy to use the photos in their social media or on the academy website and associated publications. If you have specific issue with this then please let us know via the enquiries e-mail address.

We are very much looking forward to celebrating with the students and hope that this event is a fitting end point to year 11 for all the students.

Yours Faithfully
